Project Description
English Landscapes has completed the landscape refurbishment works at Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens. The gardens have undergone a two-year restoration and conservation programme secured by the injection of Heritage Lottery monies and the collaborative funding from the Mobbs Memorial Trust and South Buckinghamshire District Council.
The works undertaken included:
Sensitive cutting back and coppicing of large areas of overgrown Rhododendrons Removing over 120 mature trees Replacing virtually all of the box-hedging in the Parterre Garden with 30,000 new plants Re-edging, re-surfacing and reducing back to their original width of all main footpaths Lifting and relaying of intricate York paths in the Colonnade and Parterre Gardens Restoration of the Overthrow to the centre gates at the end of the Formal Gardens Repair and re-lining of all fountains and water features Overhaul and renovation of the existing irrigation and fountain pump systems Re-working of the arches and gates in the old Rose Garden with a mixture of new and renovated metalwork Replanting of the original specified roses in the Rose Garden Restoration of the original wooden arch and the complex systems of jets and rills in the Colonnade Garden Returning the grass lawns to their original layout in the Colonnade Garden Replacement of wooden beams and the repair of pillars in the Colonnade garden
