"Under the expert guidance of the Heritage Lottery Fund Monitor, the special way English Landscapes has found the right materials and assembled the walled banks of the stream, demands admiration. Plas Newydd is rewarded with an increasing visitor base, and wildlife is also becoming more abundant. It is also likely that due to English Landscapes’ excellent work, the stream can resist the devastation caused by previous flooding."

BALI National Landscape Award Winner 2005 - Land Renewal Scheme

English Landscapes was delighted to be awarded the river remediation and renovation works at this major heritage site.

The works undertaken included:

Removal of large quantities of debris
Re-profiling of the river bed
Re-building of extensive sections of dry stone walls
Re-building of walls founded on concrete
Re-diversion of the river back to its original line
Restoration of the existing historic footpaths
Provision of new sections of path
Renovation and painting of the historic railings located site-wide
Refurbishment of the existing ornate gates
Erection of rabbit proof and boundary fencing
Provision of rustic handrails
Hedge planting
Soft landscaping - restoration of parterre topiary, replanting of beds, planting of shrubbery.
Tree works - selective thinning, transplanting of existing trees
