BALI National Award Winner 1999 - Grounds Maintenance of Public Grounds (Free Public Access)
English Landscapes Maintenance carried out the grounds maintenance operations for Milton Keynes Parks Trust from 1996 until 2002.
The maintenance of the park was designed to present the landscape features - which included lakes, streams, footpaths, bridleways, shrubberies, mature decidious woods, embankment plantings and many different species of plants and trees - in their most publicly accessible form.
The contract comprised:
Grasscutting to various categories of grass specification, these included 50mm grass to hay fields with wildflowers cropped once a year Shrubberies - rotational coppicing, weed-free beds, once a year maintenance of mature beds and footpath pruning to specified profiles Hedges - over 8000 metres of hedges were cut to varying profiles twice per year Tree Maintenance - crownlifting, removal of epicormic growth and removal of stakes and ties at discretion
This contract was a Performance Contract which allowed English Landscapes Maintenance the flexibility of developing a maintenance regime that suited both the landscape and the client.
