Our Commitment to Training & Development

 

The Landscape Group are committed to offering our employees the best possible training and personal development to help them succeed with their chosen career path.
 
We have developed a strategy of ‘growing our own’. This strategy is adopted when recruiting and developing apprentices (link to apprentice area) as well as every level of supervisory, management and leadership role. As well as the sponsorship of any employee who has the desire for self-development through gaining NVQ or equivalent qualifications. It is our approach to not only provide further education or skills training to all employees who request it but to actively encourage take up of these provisions.

We have a number of initiatives in operation that support our learning and development strategy:

  • Full induction training - health and safety, customer care, use of machinery and vehicles, environmental awareness, company and client procedures
  • Annual personal reviews
  • Personal and contract specific training targets
  • The  "Plant your own Apprentice" scheme
  • In house management training programme for emerging, new and existing managers
  • IOSH / NEBOSH qualifications
  • NVQ Level 4/5 Management
  • Support towards the attainment of professional qualifications such as CIPD, CIPS
  • Emerging and Developing leaders programme run by the Windsor Leadership Trust

‘Grow our own managers’

We are constantly assessing the talent we have internally. For example, Supervisors, who are identified as having the potential to progress are placed on a bespoke development programme which may include:

  • Enrolling on a course of study at an appropriate level
  • Spending time at a number of diverse contracts (usually a year at a time)
  • The appointment of a senior manager to act as their mentor
  • Hands on involvement in areas of the business that push and challenge the individuals thinking and skill set
